diamond in the rough

The Fashionology necklaces have been popping up on several popular fashion blogs for a while now  (e.g. Carolines Mode, Style Scrapbook). I think these unpolished treasures make any casual outfit a lot more interesting and unique. If your budget is limited like mine, check out fashionology.nl, they have fantastic stuff.

listen to…

the new colette podcast. It’s a tribute to the late DJ Mehdi. I saw him once, he played a set before a Justice concert a while back and I really enjoyed it – what a crazy genius with electronic sounds. R.I.P.

Consisting of french hip hop Mehdi liked to listen to and some of his finest tracks – a great mix you should check out.

I highly recommend the monthly colette podcast, so if you don’t know it yet, subscribe on iTunes, it’s worth it.

look #2

Luckily, summer decided to have a small comeback this week – summer in Cologne was a total let-down this year, so I’m thankful for every bit of warmth and light. Wardrobe-wise I left my sweater and trench in the closet and wore  a flowy button up shirt from stradivarius, red jeans from gina tricot, boots from dinsko and a bag from parfois. Since the red jeans are so loud, I usually prefer to numb the color down with a softer shade of red, brown or beige in form of a sweater. Looks great over the button up.

take a look at this: paul smith spring ’12

Loving everything about this collection. Masculinity and sophistication looking so wearable and comfortable. I especially like the loafers, the PJ pants and that smudged floral print.

WANT

I remember seeing this ad in nylon (august ’11):

How brilliant. Color-coated jeans – apparently they look and feel like leather. But they’re washable and PETA would approve.

After unsuccessfully searching the internet for someone who sells them, I gave up on this genius garment.. Until now: Zara sells them for a fraction of what the Habitual jeans cost. And this is what they look like:

Now I only have to choose a color.. I think I’m gonna go with burgundy.

song of the week

I can’t stop listening to “I’m an Indian too” by Don Armando. It was played at the Isabel Marant F/W ’11 show. So catchy!

Speaking of the F/W ’11 Isabel Marant collection, here’s a few of my favorite pieces. I really, really want a waffle-knit sweater for the upcoming months of coldness.

end of summer.

I’m wearing trousers by Weekday, mokassins by 3suisses, a vintage knit top (love the back of it so much) and a necklace I bought in Lisbon. The lipstick is an intense pink by Dior.
