givenchy ready-to-wear spring ’12

Definitely one of my favorite spring collections.

The color palette is soft and gorgeous, the looks mostly focus on one color at a time, which lets us concentrate on the exquisite variety of materials and their structure, detail and quality: There’s shiny, glittery, matte, silky, glossy and sheer.

Cleavage is absent in many spring collections and Givenchy is no exception – I must say, I’m loving all the button ups, leaves more to imagination.

The tailoring in this collection is amazing, everything looks sophisticated and sharp, yet light and easy. And those details! The gigantic shark tooth necklace, the little chains and the simplicity of the shoes. Love it!

Elin Kling presents: “Nowhere”

Swedish ultra-blogger Elin Kling has everything going for her. What hasn’t she achieved? She has one of the most successful blogs, amazing taste, her own magazine and now she paired up with designer Nhu Duong and created her own label “Nowhere”, available on Nelly.com.

Chic, simple, sophisticated. There are chunky knits, transparent pieces, asymmetry, blacks and whites. The collection is not ground-breaking, the references to her favorite labels such as acne and isabel marant are quite obvious, but I like almost every piece – plus, it’s affordable. I might invest in a new coat or the gorgeous silver pointed heels.

diamond in the rough

The Fashionology necklaces have been popping up on several popular fashion blogs for a while now  (e.g. Carolines Mode, Style Scrapbook). I think these unpolished treasures make any casual outfit a lot more interesting and unique. If your budget is limited like mine, check out fashionology.nl, they have fantastic stuff.

take a look at this: paul smith spring ’12

Loving everything about this collection. Masculinity and sophistication looking so wearable and comfortable. I especially like the loafers, the PJ pants and that smudged floral print.

WANT

I remember seeing this ad in nylon (august ’11):

How brilliant. Color-coated jeans – apparently they look and feel like leather. But they’re washable and PETA would approve.

After unsuccessfully searching the internet for someone who sells them, I gave up on this genius garment.. Until now: Zara sells them for a fraction of what the Habitual jeans cost. And this is what they look like:

Now I only have to choose a color.. I think I’m gonna go with burgundy.

song of the week

I can’t stop listening to “I’m an Indian too” by Don Armando. It was played at the Isabel Marant F/W ’11 show. So catchy!

Speaking of the F/W ’11 Isabel Marant collection, here’s a few of my favorite pieces. I really, really want a waffle-knit sweater for the upcoming months of coldness.
