Today’s details

So we’re back to cold weather. Be careful what you wish for, that’s what they say. I wanted it to get colder so I could wear my new leather jacket from I Don’t Like Mondays more often so.. there.
I’m wearing it with an oversized shirt from Weekday and some bling from a market in India as well as a pendant from Fashionology.

fall sneak peek: H&M

I’m amazed with how much H&M has grown in quality the last few years and the upcoming fall collection is no disappointment. I’m glad we’ll see more peplums, leather, crystals and great patterns and structures. Very exciting jackets and accessories..

summer picks

Since summer finally arrived I can’t stop thinking about my upcoming trip to Portugal (okay, it’s only in two months but I can not wait!). I’ve made a list of my summer necessities..

Something white. A white, slightly sheer blouse does everything. I always try to travel with hand luggage only so choosing versatile pieces is key.

Something short. Needless to say anything. It’s a necessity.

Something bold. I tend to under-accessorize during summer, but one statement piece really makes a difference. Found this amazing plexi cuff here.

Something waterproof. Again – versatility. Plus a sense of humor and nostalgia. Get them here.

Something tropical. And revealing. Via Miss Selfridge.Something cool. And protective. These are perfection in my opinion. Via Gargyle.

#9 – The Leather Jacket

What a fabulous biker jacket I now own. The cute detail in the back and the quilted parts really make it stand out and the leather is so soft. Unfortunately, I can’t really wear it with it being 30°C outside, but the time will come.
I’m wearing: Sunglasses from Urban Outfitters, jacket courtesy of I Don’t Like Mondays and Fashiolista (thanks again!), dress from Weekday, H&M sandals and Monki Clutch.

It’s finally here! The jacket I won from I Don’t Like Mondays a few weeks ago finally arrived.. at the customs office. I went there this morning and had to learn that there really is no such thing as a free lunch. Apparently, even a prize has its price. Still. I got an amazing leather jacket for 17,5% of its actual price, so I can’t really complaint. I’ll post a photo of me in it as soon as I can.

Another recent addition to my closet is this wonderful clutch from Muji. Technically, it’s a pencil case, but where is the fun in that? I’m in need of a new wallet, mine is slowly falling apart. Inside the purse: Glasses from ASOS, L’Oréal 4D Mascara, Vaseline, wallet from the flea market.

Therapy

This is the new Prada short film by Roman Polanski starring Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley. The two brilliant actors take the roles of a psychoanalyst and his rich, very chic patient (of course dressed in Prada). Absolutely worth watching!

Yes to Camo!

I guess it’s only natural in the cycle of fashion that this pattern is coming back. After years of designers being influenced by everything military, camouflage is creeping back into the pages of style blogs and onto the streets, promoted by Carine Roitfeld and Columbine Smille among others. I’ve never really disliked this pattern. I owned camouflage pants when I was 12 and adored them.
It’s one of those patterns people swear they’ll never wear – which they probably will at some point. I feel that way about leopard print by the way, I’ve never owned anything leo. But never say never.
Also, for more than 2 years we’ve been seeing denim jackets everywhere and I need an alternative summer jacket.
I say: Yes to camouflage!

The other day my friend the talented photographer Volker Conradus (who has an amazing personal style by the way) invited me for a spontaneous photo shoot. I recently purchased a pleated pleather skirt at H&M (the material looks very authentic I must say!) and wanted to have it photographed. I think it’s one of the best garments I bought this year. I styled it with a silver sweater from H&M and Nelly heels. I’m not a model as you can see from the poses but I had fun and I think the photos turned out to be pretty cool, no?

at the gala

Usually, I don’t care about who wears what on the red carpet. But there were some exquisite (I guess that’s the right word for this kind of event) dresses at the Met Costume Institute Gala that I’d like to share (even though most of the celebrities don’t even choose what they wear and therefore don’t deserve the credit, some of them did look pretty fantastic).

Let me start with M.I.A. in Stella McCartney who proved to be the coolest most casual guest. For me she did everything right from the matching clutch to the bright pink lipstick.

Emma Stone looked cute as a button in Lanvin. I’m all for structural dresses embellished with what looks like candy wrapping.

Then there’s Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row. This outfit was hated by many but I actually love it, especially with the messy hair. Very mysterious and elegant.

Special Attention goes to Giovanna Battaglia who looked like she came straight out of a Frida Kahlo Painting. Love it!

These are my current fashion favorites. As you can see right now I’m a lot into black and white, nudes and a pop of neon. I can check the torn jeans and pleated leather skirt off the list. The H&M neon sandals are on the top of my list but the black shopper with the tassels from Acne will remain an unattainable dream.
