Happy Tunes

You need to check out the Vogue S/S ’13 playlist, created by enfant terrible Arman Nafeei. It features some good old Bowie, as well as Kendrick Lamar and a fresh take on “Homesick” (Kings of Convenience) by DJ Koze. Just a great selection of music that will put you in the mood for summer – now all I need is for the weather to cooperate. This list is already on repeat. Read more about Arman on the Vogue blog here.

Azealia to a T

Sorry for being so MIA lately but I needed some real vacation with no distractions. But anyway.

Here’s the new fall campaign video for T by Alexander Wang starring Azealia Banks. Very cool example of combining music and fashion. The track featured in the clip (Van Vogue) can be found on her new EP 1991. So glad there’s a new strong female hip hop artist out there, when I was younger I adored Missy Elliott and I feel like Azealia brings a similar but new style to the table.

“Banks is her own woman, as she proved with this year’s 1991 EP, an überchic dance party that’s bursting with side-splitting snark”, Rolling Stone Magazine

“Angels” is a beautiful new track by The XX. It’s already on replay. I wonder how good their new Album “Coexist” is going to be, this first track is so promising. Give it a listen..

Liquorice Bitch

Here’s the new music video for Azealia Banks’ Liquorice. Click on the image to watch it.
I really like her style but I think she should lay off the stars and stripes, since we’ve seen enough of that this year (Lana is already covering that, so..)
Fresh, catchy track, you should check it out.

watch.. M.I.A. is the shit

My favorite music video right now and maybe of all time is M.I.A.’s latest video for her single “Bad Girls”. It’s mesmerizing, new, so so cool, inspiring and pretty unbelievable. I agree with Romain Gavras the director who says “Now, it will be hard to make something as grandiose as this. The next video needs to be shot on the moon.. on the moon with hookers.” – I hope they put that idea into action!

Watch in HD!

Plus, today I found a documentary about the making of this genius music video, you should definitely watch it..

bad ass

Cute exterior and a bad ass attitude are a great combination for success.

At the Topshop Unique A/W 2012 show Azealia Banks sat in the front row and watched the models walk down the runway to her song 212.

I’m so excited about her project with Lana del Rey, can’t wait to hear what those two will create.

circus

What a circus at the halftime show of the Super Bowl last night. I liked that Madonna performed some oldies, starting off with Vogue and ending it with Like a Prayer. That lady has definitely still got the moves, but I’m not sure if she was singing it all, since she was so active and busy strutting her stuff. My favorite part of it all was the 30 second performance of MIA though – I was so surprised to see her, I felt like she should’ve had a larger part in this spectacle, because I love her. I’m no Madonna fan but that was definitely impressive.

See for yourself..

listen to.. la forêt

Feel good song when I don’t feel good – I’ve never ever had to study this much. Hope I’ll have more time to blog this week. Listen to this tune and stay tuned X

Impressions from the Dillon concert

Last week I went to the Dillon concert. It was brilliant. She sang and played the keyboard while this tall guy worked two mac books and sound machines I know nothing about. Her voice reminds me of Lykke Li, soft and vulnerable. She’s from Brazil but calls Cologne her home, writing her own songs and playing the piano. Now her debut album “The Silence Kills” came out, featuring this Track:

Here are some impressions from the concert.

And this is what I was wearing by the way (thanks for the photo, Jo). American Apparel velvet leggings and boots from Zara.

listen to.. Lana del Rey

I’ve never listened to anything like it and now I can’t stop.

Lana del Rey – Who is she?! For one totally gorgeous but I feel like she came out of nowhere. Apparently her EP got into the top 5 of the US iTunes album charts after only a couple of hours. You can download her EP “Video Games” on iTunes, there’s lots of other fantastic stuff on Youtube (like this one), go check it out.
