at the gala

Usually, I don’t care about who wears what on the red carpet. But there were some exquisite (I guess that’s the right word for this kind of event) dresses at the Met Costume Institute Gala that I’d like to share (even though most of the celebrities don’t even choose what they wear and therefore don’t deserve the credit, some of them did look pretty fantastic).

Let me start with M.I.A. in Stella McCartney who proved to be the coolest most casual guest. For me she did everything right from the matching clutch to the bright pink lipstick.

Emma Stone looked cute as a button in Lanvin. I’m all for structural dresses embellished with what looks like candy wrapping.

Then there’s Mary-Kate Olsen in The Row. This outfit was hated by many but I actually love it, especially with the messy hair. Very mysterious and elegant.

Special Attention goes to Giovanna Battaglia who looked like she came straight out of a Frida Kahlo Painting. Love it!

market

I just discovered ASOS market place and I really like it! Go on a treasure hunt and buy clothes from indie labels, multi-brand boutiques, vintage sellers or other ASOS users. Don’t expect flea market prices but definitely unique garments and accessories. I didn’t have to browse for very long to find great pieces and couldn’t resist when I found this amazing bracelet..

Here are some of my favorite finds on the market place:

Fringes and Flowers, 46€Studded Bracelet, 20€Chain handbag, 30€Denim shirt, 54€

latest loves

These are my current fashion favorites. As you can see right now I’m a lot into black and white, nudes and a pop of neon. I can check the torn jeans and pleated leather skirt off the list. The H&M neon sandals are on the top of my list but the black shopper with the tassels from Acne will remain an unattainable dream.

Taken from my list on Fashiolista

I won!

The coolest thing happened today: I got an e-mail informing me that I won a leather jacket from I Don’t Like Mondays. I had entered a contest on fashiolista a couple of weeks ago and they chose me! I’ve never won anything in my life!! Plus, I really need a leather jacket and I’m in no financial situation to buy one so this is too perfect.
This is it (jeez, almost 500 bucks!). Isn’t it preeeetty?

blast from the past

I used to love these as a kid: jelly sandals.
At first I didn’t really know what to think when two of my currently most important style influences were wearing them (Ivania from Love Aesthetics paired them with ankle cuffs and the girls from Helen Glory wear their Juju’s with socks), but then I figured why not.. I love transparent things, rubber is such a cool material, as I recall they’re really cheap and you can wear them on the beach. I’m going to give them a try even though I’m pretty sure they will polarize. What do you guys think?

#DidYouHear about Charlotte

Pretty cool that Maybelline chose a girl with hairy arm pits as their new face.. wonder if she’ll have to shave. This pink haired pretty face is a great choice, I’m intrigued. How do I know? Watch..

DIY: dipped in bleach

Dries van Noten S/S 2011

Something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now is to bleach a pair of jeans in order to achieve an ombre look. I used DanKlorix as bleach – no need to mix it with water, since there is not much chlorine in it, so it can’t damage the fabric – and left the jeans hanging in it for about one hour in order to really get all the color out. And since it was so easy I did the same to a pair of shorts while I was at it.

summer à la coachella

God I’m SO jealous! Check out the photos of the Coachella festival happening now in California. The line-up is insane. The Black Keys, Radiohead, Dre and Snoop just to name a few and many many more. Plus, there are just as many celebrities visiting the festival as there are on stage. Though it’s not only the amazing concerts but the whole festival/summer feeling that I would want to be a part of right now. I CAN’T WAIT FOR SUMMER!!

new in

I found the most perfect little blouse in Antwerp. Spring has taken a break these days but as soon as it’s back I look forward to wearing my latest acquisition. I got it at New Look for 30€.

#7 – Laserblast

I spent a long weekend in Antwerp, the beautiful city in Belgium. Shopping here is great, unfortunately I didn’t have a lot of time, but I will come back, because there is still so much more to see.
I got the sunglasses and sweater here at Urban Outfitters, the clutch is from Zara, boots from Dinsko and finally the Replay Laserblast jeans in action.
