#11

This is one of my go-to outfits when I want to be comfortable without wearing sweat pants because I like to look like I give a shit. I don’t think there’s any reason to wear lounge wear in public so I just go for oversized garments instead.
By the way, this photograph was taken with a Mamiya RB 67 Pro SD, a brilliant medium format camera, but way too heavy for me to use.
I am wearing a shirt from H&M, Cheap Monday jeans that I tore up myself and Asos sneakers.

Azealia to a T

Sorry for being so MIA lately but I needed some real vacation with no distractions. But anyway.

Here’s the new fall campaign video for T by Alexander Wang starring Azealia Banks. Very cool example of combining music and fashion. The track featured in the clip (Van Vogue) can be found on her new EP 1991. So glad there’s a new strong female hip hop artist out there, when I was younger I adored Missy Elliott and I feel like Azealia brings a similar but new style to the table.

“Banks is her own woman, as she proved with this year’s 1991 EP, an überchic dance party that’s bursting with side-splitting snark”, Rolling Stone Magazine

Lost in Lisbon

I have had a great weekend here in Lisbon. It’s one of my favorite places in the world and the city never disappoints me. We spent hours at Lost in, a place I strongly recommend, for its fair prices, delicious food, cozy atmosphere and a terrace with the most amazing view.I thought I’d also share my outfit from yesterday. Latest addition to my wardrobe and a new favorite is this blouse from Zara. The shorts I’m wearing used to be skinny jeans from Monki, belt used to be my mom’s, purse is from Zara, cuff from Asos and the big bruise on my leg is from being very clumsy lately..

packing

Tomorrow I am off to Lisbon for the weekend and then I have a week of Algarve ahead. Can’t wait to feel the sun and ocean breeze on my skin, sounds so corny but it’s just what the doctor ordered. Literally.
Here you can see about half of what I packed for the ten days. 32°c is what awaits me, which is why I packed so many pairs of shorts. There’s no such thing as too many shorts, right?

Amsterdam: young talent

In about one month I will be moving to Amsterdam to study at AMFI – the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. Since the day I got the acceptance letter everything has seemed so unreal but now that the semester is getting closer it is slowly sinking in, that I will be starting a whole new life.
I got even more excited when I saw Amfi Individual’s latest collection. It’s incredible how talented these young designers are and I feel really lucky to become one of their fellow students. This collection has a nomadic feel to it, with oriental influences as well as sporty accents. The outerwear is fabulous, the slouchy silhouette so current and everything looks very ready-to-wear. Plus, the way the runway show is put together is so smart: They start out with black, darker browns and burgundies with dubstep playing and end with white and some gold accents while there’s silence in the room. It’s like the models walk into the light at the end of the tunnel. But see for yourself.
To all the designers: You did an amazing job!

Lana in H&M

Congratulations are in order for the lovely Lana del Rey whose career has been sky-rocketing for the past couple of months and will do so even more when H&M launches their F/W ’12 collection which will feature the melancholic pop star as its new face. Exciting news, although Lana’s big success was not exactly unpredictable (in my opinion deserved, I know a ton of people will disagree, but I still think so). Here’s a little sneak peek..

Beach day

It’s no secret that I’m an admirer of Elin Kling, the all-round talent from Sweden. She’s the creative director of the magazine Styleby and its latest editorial, in which we can see Martha Streck shot by Martin Lidell, speaks for itself. The stylist Nike Fröhling-Felldin did a great job in reflecting Elin’s simplistic, cool and feminine style. This editorial also shows that simplicity does not have to mean wearing black and/or white but just having a good set of basics, which is exactly what I would want on the beach besides a Bikini. Hopefully I’ll have the opportunity to get my hands on a copy of Styleby in the near future.

Paisley Party

Another great item I bought during the summer sale are these trousers from Weekday. I’m so into that print and they are super comfortable. The best thing about them though is that they are extremely versatile. I’ll be able to wear them to the beach, for an everyday outfit, as lounge wear as well as wearing them out at night with heels – they go with everything. Hopefully I’ll be able to share a photo of me wearing them with my actual clothes. My collage is more like wishful thinking, since I don’t own an Alexander Wang nor a Reed Krakoff purse to accessorize my outfits with, but you get the idea that these trousers can totally make the transition from day to night.

New in: Heels

Yesterday I did something I only do once every two years. I bought high heeled shoes. I went to check out the sales at Zara and there they were, the chelsea boots I had already admired online: tan leather, timeless, the very last pair, on sale AND my size. The universe must have led me to them because that never happens (last pairs are always either a 37 or a 41, never a 39). Long story short, I couldn’t resist.
Now I just have to get myself to wear heels more often, I’m usually way to lazy for that but now I have a reason. Here it is:

Candice or nothing

Gorgeous Candice in this really cool, really chill and yet incredibly fashionable editorial for Muse magazine (summer 2012 issue). The styling is very creative and has an intriguing ambiguity about it: These are some very feminine looks yet all have a masculine twist. Also, the looks are very edgy and sexy but they have a man repelling quality about them.
This woman can’t not look sexy which is why I love her in this natural, more approachable look, as opposed to her all dolled up posing as a sex kitten (remember her in her short short denim shorts in Terry Richardson’s studio? Overkill.)
Here goes, Candice Swanepoel shot by Cass Bird and styled by Ethel Park. My hat is off to all of them.
